GROSSI, Rocco John - Of Flint, age 91, died Monday, August 27, 2012 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 10 am Friday, August 31, 2012
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Deacon Michael Dear officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church or the North End Soup Kitchen.
Visitation 4-8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Rocco was born in Beaver County, Pennsylvania on June 17, 1921 and was a resident most of his life in the Flint and Grand Blanc area. Rocco graduated from St. Michael’s High School, Class of 1938. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Anna Marie Pellegrini (Lola) on January 16, 1946. Rocco was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Sons of Italy. He owned and operated Rocky’s Belmont Bar, Rocky’s Cocktail Lounge and Rocco’s Pizzeria of Grand Blanc. He was also on the Genesee County Board of Supervisors in the 1950’s and worked at E.I. DuPont Company for 20 years, retiring in 1984.
Surviving are beloved wife, Anna Marie (Lola);
children, Roxanne (Timothy) Roach and Roderick (Holly);
grandchildren, Rocky John III, Katie Roach, Dominic, Madison, and August Grossi and Scott Graham;
sisters, Viola (Gildo) Finateri and Emma Colonna;
sisters-in-law, Mary Palini and Helen Pellegrini.
He was preceded in death by his Son Rocco John Grossi, Jr; his parents, Guerino and Filomena (Mansueti) Grossi and sister, Rose Kurtz.
