Woodrow, Betty "Janet" – of Montrose, age 90, died Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Grandson, Chris Wetherford, and Pastor Ron Shamel officiating. Burial to follow in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 1-8 PM and on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
Janet was born December 5, 1926, in Flint, Michigan to the late Walter and Mary (Houston) Smith. She married James P. Woodrow on April 12, 1960, in Bristol, TN. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2014. Janet had resided in Montrose since 1992, coming from the Millington and Otisville areas. Janet was a homemaker. Her husband and family were her passion. She loved family time playing cards and board games, preparing meals and baked goods and hosting fish frys for family and friends. She also enjoyed camping, traveling, going to the movies, dining out at her favorite restaurants, sewing, embroidering, and crafts. Janet loved the outdoors. Janet and Jim spent most of their time outside gardening and working in their yard and woods. Both of them loved watching the birds and wildlife on their property.
Surviving are: Children: Jeffrey Sr. (Pamela) Wetherford of Otter Lake, Carol (Terry) Gustine of Lewiston, CA., Gary Hannah of Linwood, James K. (Debbie) Woodrow of Chino Valley, AZ., and Julie O'Guinn of Montrose; 9 grandchildren: Jeffrey Jr. (Julie) Wetherford, Christopher (Melissa) Wetherford, Michelle (Cory) Williams, Shawn (the late Brian) Roessler, Tasha (Mark) Bintliff, Terra (Michael) Squibb, Sarah (Justin) Singleton, Ryan O'Guinn and Aaron O'Guinn. Several great-grandchildren. Brother, Lawrence "Bud" (Berneda) Smith of Kissimmee, FL.; Special niece, Beverly (John) Wilder of Kissimmee, FL. Janet also leaves behind her beloved dog, Brandy and her cat, Lilly. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Vivian Smith and Helen Reno.
