Stecco, Darlene Dee of Flushing, age 70, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at her home. A gathering of family and friends will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014, with a Memorial Service following at 12:00 Noon at the Flint Masonic Temple, 755 S. Saginaw Street.
Darlene was born October 11, 1944 in Flint, MI. She graduated from Flushing High School in 1962 and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University. She was a teacher at Flushing Junior High School where she taught English and English literature and it appears was everyone’s favorite teacher. Darlene was gentle and kind but held her students to a high standard. She had the wit and humor to enable her students to enjoy their studies. Through literature she taught her students to be understanding and caring members of the community of humanity. She loved children, family, friends, cats, traveling to Europe, especially to England, reading, writing, theatre, good movies and a good laugh.
Surviving are brothers, Michael (Lorna) and Larry (Susan); four nephews; three nieces; five great-nephews; two great-nieces and over 100 cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine (Oginsky) Stecco; father, John Stecco; brothers, Darrell and Daniel Stecco; and nephew, Dennis Stecco. |
