SODERLUND, Cora “Laraine” – of Davison, age 85, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at Charter Senior Living of Davison. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, November 1, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 706 W. Flint Street, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Todd Frusti officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Davison Cemetery. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association, in Cora’s memory.
Laraine was born in Pontiac, MI on May 31, 1939, daughter of the late Kenneth and Cora (Piatt) Lieske. She married Arthur Soderlund on August 24, 1957, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2000. Laraine worked at Buick shortly after marrying Art. When the children were born, she worked as a “Kelly Girl”. She enjoyed working at the Whaley Children’s Home and being creative while working at Greyloam Florist. Laraine was a talented seamstress and continued her hobby with the Trinity Ladies Quilting Guild. In her younger years, she liked to bowl and golf, especially with her husband and grandson. Laraine enjoyed traveling to various places including Florida, Myrtle Beach and Chicago. She was a dedicated shopaholic!
Laraine is survived by her loving children, Kelley (Richard) Dorner, Scott Soderlund; grandchildren, Kenneth (Hope) Soderlund, Alexandra Dorner; great-grandchildren, Cadence, Casey and Hailey Soderlund; sister, Paula (Ken) Pethers; sister-in-law, Carol Lieske; and many other loving family members. In addition to her parents and her husband, Laraine was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Colleen Soderlund; sister, Carole (Dick) Webb; brother, Larry Lieske.
