KERN, Gail Mary - Of Burton, age 65, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at home surrounded by loved ones
Funeral service will be held 4pm Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 2-8pm Friday and 11am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Gail was born in Flint on April 11, 1951, the daughter of Duane and Mary Tennant. Gail attended Atherton High School. She was a kind and caring person whose smile could always brighten up your day. Gail’s compassion for the special needs of others led her to a career at G.I.S.D. as a Para-Educator at M.C.I.C. for 25 years. Always eager to volunteer, she became advisor to Boy Scouts of America, Post 4 Handicap Scouting, a supporter of the Genesee Humane Society, and a longtime volunteer with the Special Olympics.
Gail is survived by her daughter, Amanda Kern (Amanda Shinabarger);
Son, Dennis (Marsha) Kern.
She was preceded in death by son, Adam and parents, Duane and Mary Tennant and sister, Karen Leona.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Post 4 Handicap Scouting.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Reverence Hospice for their great help.
