BALCOM, Rolland J. - Of Flint, age 79, died Monday, July 11, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, 2526 Corunna Road, Flint, Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation 1-8p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Mr. Balcom will be at the church 10:30a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.
Rolland was born in Flint on January 18, 1932. On May 19, 1952, he married Doris Wright. Rolland served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with General Motors and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Surviving are sons, Gary and wife Connie of Millington, Kenneth and wife Mary of Lake Orion;
grandchildren, Stacey and husband Matthew Schleiger of Flint, Ashley and husband Carl Hall of Flint, Susie Balcom of Millington, David Balcom of Millington, Kelly and husband Michael York of Novi and Jason Balcom of Lansing;
5 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Jo and husband Carl Petty of Flint; brother, Bob and wife Laura Miller of Redford; nieces and nephews.
