Louis Leroy Kosbar passed away April 4, 2020, was born August 21, 1932, in Ionia Michigan, to the late Erdwig F Kosbar and Inez M (Chickering) Kosbar. He graduated from Davison, class of 1950. He then apprenticed at Buick Motor Division, and was a Die Maker for 42 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Union Local 599.
He lived in Ionia and Flint before moving to the Davison area in 1943. He married Mildred Kellogg on June 1, 1952, and they celebrated 67 years of married bliss. They were blessed with 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Louis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Davison, since 1947. He was an honorary member of Trinity Quilters, serving as coffeemaker. He enjoyed restoring and showing antique cars. His pride and joy were the two cars he restored – a 1926 Model T Ford, and a 1930 Marquette (a companion car for the Buick motor car, and was manufactured for only one year). He also enjoyed woodworking, including making toys for the grandchildren.
He served 2 years in the US Army during the Korean War, 1952-1954.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Earl and wife Norma Kosbar, and brother Fred Kosbar.
He is survived by his wife Millie, children Judy (Paul) Yettaw of MI, Nancy (Robert) Livingston of MI, Laura Kosbar of NY, Kurt (Julie) Kosbar of MO, Kyle (Christine) Pellar-Kosbar of MI, sister Arlene Bovia of MI, grandchildren Jeremy (Linda) Yettaw, Holly (Dan) Lutz, Erik (Cyndi) Yettaw, Havilah (Jason) Siegmann, Noah (Kristen) Livingston, Hannah Livingston, Moriah Livingston, Autumn (Keith) Jaeger, James Kosbar, Meara Pellar-Kosbar, Alaina Pellar-Kosbar, and many special nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association or Trinity Lutheran Church in Louis’ name.
