CLAAR, Chalmer E. – Of Burton, age 95 died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at The Pines of Burton Assisted Living.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton,
Father Steve Anderson officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mr. Claar will be at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the Mass.
Chalmer was born in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania, on January 25, 1923, son of the late William and Betty Claar.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Janine on March 16, 1946 in France and they had been married for 60 years and she preceded him in death in 2006.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, American Legion Post #147 of Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Claar was employed as an oilman in Appleton Papermill in Pennsylvania for 46 years.
Surviving are daughter, Antoinette and husband Paul Smith;
grandchildren, Celeste Coaster and Noelle Smith;
2 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Nicholas Coaster.
He was preceded in death by one sister and 3 brothers.
