Addie Leix, age 89 of Durand, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. Preacher Mark Aites will be officiating with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1-3 & 5-8 p.m.
Addie was born February 15, 1926 in Imboden, Arkansas to the late Oliver and Essie (Brooks) Wells. She attended Flint Central High School, graduating in 1943. On June 14, 1946, Addie married Elton Leix in Flint and together raised 2 children. Elton later passed on November 11, 2011.
Mrs. Leix was an avid golfer. Her family hold fond memories of her in the kitchen baking. In her later years, Addie self taught herself to crochet and knit, a hobbie she really enjoyed.
Mrs. Leix is survived by her daughter, Linda Leix of Davison; son, Daniel Leix of Lapeer County; 8 grandchildren: Tom Mello, Courtney (Jeremy) Jensen, Lindsay (Matthew) Goss, Ross Mello, Lynn Leix, Ryan Leix, Kristen Leix, Alyssa Leix; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Hank (Shay) Wells of Swartz Creek and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton "Al", both parents and brother, Millard Wells.
