WHITNEY, Charles A. “Chuck” – of Mt. Morris, age 65, died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 3, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 11110 N. Saginaw St. in Mt. Morris. Fr. Thomas Nenneau officiating. Cremation to follow. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery will be held at a later date. Visitation will be at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Friday from 1-8 PM and at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM Friday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Chuck was born March 14, 1951 in Flint to Richard and Ruth (Farnsworth) Whitney. He was a Mt. Morris resident most of his life and had a retirement home in Au Gres. He married Helen Gradowski on December 10, 1999. Mr. Whitney retired from GM Truck and Bus in 2005 with 33 years seniority. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the UAW Local #598. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cutting wood.
Surviving are: wife, Helen; Children: Rev. Scott C. (Renee) Whitney of Kings Mountain, NC, Kecia Rochelle (Ian) Klida of Saginaw Twp., Lenny Gradowski (fiancé Dana Schmieder) of Clio, Ray (Consuelo) Gradowski of Heartland; Grandchildren: Alex Wideman, Madison Gradowski, Lorenzo Gradowski, Jacob Gradowski, Ayden Whitney and Alyssa Whitney; Mother, Ruth Ferguson of Birch Run; Siblings: Sandy (Bob) Walli of Grand Rapids, Diane VanAmburg of Birch Run, Rick Whitney of Davison; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: father, Richard Whitney; stepfather, Charles Ferguson; brother, Gary Whitney; sister, Wanda Bicknell.
