Lawrence Eugene Miller, known affectionately as Larry to his friends and family, passed away on September 18, 2024, at his home in Byron, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on March 9, 1939, in Howell, Michigan, to the late Jesse Elmer and Catherine Ruth (Clymer) Miller, Larry's life was one marked by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering sense of humor.
Larry's journey began in Howell, but his heart found its home in Byron, where he graduated from Byron High School. It was there that he would lay down roots and establish a life filled with love, laughter, and community service. On June 18, 1966, he married the love of his life, Eleanore Jean Adams, and together they shared 58 years of marriage, filled with joy and companionship.
A respected businessman, Larry owned and operated the Byron Super Market for many years, where his friendly demeanor and gentle spirit made him a beloved figure in the community. His commitment to service was further exemplified through his life membership with the Masonic Temple and Byron Lodge #80 F&AM.
Larry's interests were as varied as they were passionate. A hunter and golfer, he found solace in the great outdoors and the camaraderie of his fellow sportsmen. His even-keeled demeanor was a source of strength and stability, and his ability to tell a joke could lighten any room. Above all, Larry cherished the time spent with his family, who were the cornerstone of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie, and their sons, Todd Miller and Troy (Robin) Miller. Larry's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Krista (Richard) Goodman, Kayleigh (Noah) Fox, Jacob Miller, James Miller, and Lily Miller, as well as his great-grandchildren, Addisyn, Oak, Kora, and Elizabeth. His siblings, Fred (Joyce) Miller, Ruthann (Jim) Webb, Pat Bila, and sister-in-law Evelyn Miller, will remember him fondly, as will many extended family members and close friends who were touched by his friendly and gentle nature.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Don White, his brothers, Jesse Miller and Willis Miller, his granddaughter, Jessica Miller, and his brother-in-law, Jerry Bila.
He was always happy, with a smile that could brighten the darkest of days. His ability to find joy in the simple things, to share a laugh even in trying times, and to maintain a positive outlook, will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In his passing, Larry leaves behind a legacy of kindness, a blueprint for a life well-lived, and a reminder that happiness is best when shared.
