SAUVAGE, Carol A. (Griggs) – Of Grand Blanc, age 78, died on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint, Father Thomas Firestone officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mrs. Sauvage will be at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. John Vianney Memorial Fund or St. Lukes New Life Center.
Carol was born on April 16, 1937 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Herbert and Lucille Griggs.
She graduated from St. Michaels High School and Mott Community College.
She married James T. Sauvage in Flint in 1962.
Carol was a Stenographer at Buick Motor Division for several years and then worked in Radiology Billing for 30 years.
She loved traveling, going to a Casino occasionally, watching her only grandson play travel hockey for years, then Powers Catholic High School.
Most of all she valued the many, many friendships she encountered in her lifetime, and she always kept in contact with these friends.
Surviving are son, Dennis Sauvage of Flint;
daughter, Julie Keene of Grand Blanc and grandson, Nikalus (Katelynn) of Grand Haven;
sisters, Beth (Henry) Meisner and Martha (Tom) Gallant of Arizona;
step-sisters, Mary (Mike) McCulla, Susie Cuttas and Sister Judy Coyle;
sister-in-law, Linda Flury;
brother-in-law, August (Skip) Belanger;
aunt, Madolyn (Jack) Caleogno;
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sauvage and parents, Herbert and Lucille Griggs; sister-in-law, Barbara Belanger.
