DOWN, Kenneth W. – Of Burton, age 81, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Gary Cech and Pastor Roland Drummond, co-officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Community Christian Fellowship Church.
Visitation 1-7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born in Flint, Michigan on September 17, 1933, the son of Harold and Juanita (Willoughby) Down and was a resident of Flint, until moving to Burton in 1964.
On September 22, 1952 he married Mary Faith Hall.
He was a member of Grace Community Christian Fellowship Church for 8 years and a member of the Michigan National Guard for 28 years.
Mr. Down retired from V-8 Engine Plant in July of 1988, with 34 years of service. After retiring he worked for the Flint Board of Education and was a Test Driver for the M.D.E.
Surviving are wife of 62 years, Mary Faith;
five children, Randy (Kathy) Down,
Stu (Cheryl) Down,
Julie (Vollie) Hunter,
Lisa Down and Patrick,
David (Denise) Down;
eight grandchildren, Kara (Nathan) Tabler, Stuart (Maria) Down, Casey (Heather) Down, Ty (Chelsea) Down, Sara (Zechariah) Ellis, Nathan Hunter, Brendon Down and Mackenzie Down;
five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Teagan, Ryleigh, Charli and Hudson;
niece, Cathy Down.
He was preceded in death by parents; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Shirley Down.
