HOBSON, Ronald – of Millington, age 75, received his heavenly inheritance on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church, 7306 E. Atherton Rd., Davison; Pastor Gary Gearhart officiating. Burial will be in Smith Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and 10-11 AM Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Schools Soaring Eagles.
Ronald was born in Flint, MI on September 5, 1941, son of the late Howard and Lula (Palmer) Hobson. He married Judy Ann Read on June 19, 1965 and she preceded him in death on March 3, 2013. Ronald then married Valerie Haley on September 5, 2014. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. Ronald retired from GM in 1998 after 31 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. From his youth in Montrose, MI, he was an avid athlete and outdoorsman. Over the years he coached his boys in little league and later, young men at Faith Baptist Schools in Davison. He enjoyed playing golf and softball in church leagues with his sons. Taking family fishing trips to Canada was nearly an annual occasion as well as deer hunting with his boys. Ronald is remembered for his hard work ethic, integrity, humor, fun-spirit, and lovable disposition.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Valerie; three sons, Terry (Jennifer), Todd (Angie), Thad (Angela); three step-daughters, Gretchen (Todd) Roestel, Kristi (Greg) Hanby, Meghann (Matt) Herford; grandchildren, Sydney (Jake), Seth, Alexandra, Nick, Victor, Hannah and Heather; one great grandchild, Adeline; siblings, Bill (Mary), Merlyn (Helen), Shirley Manley. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clarence, Russ, Beverly Matthews, Howard, Retha Brown.
