SHAW, Sylvestine J. (Muzik) “Sylvia” - Of Flint, age 95, died Friday, November 6, 2015 at her residence with her family by her side.
Visitation 4-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Friday until the time of the Mass at the church.
Memorial Mass will be held 11am Friday, November 13, 2015 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 310 North Cherry Street, Flushing,
Father Gordon Reigle officiating.
Sylvia was born in Alexandria, Minnesota on April 8, 1920, the daughter of the late George and Bessie Muzik. Sylvia married Donald Shaw on October 5, 1946 in St. Paul Minnesota and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2008. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, the Marine Corp League Ladies Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. Sylvia enjoyed Bingo, word searches, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Sylvia’s adventures took her from the farm in Minnesota to Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington where she was Rosie the Riveter then to LA where she met her future husband, Donald.
Surviving are son, Alan of Largo, FL;
daughter, Annette and husband John Lukasavitz of Flushing;
5 grandchildren, Adrienne and husband Christopher Williams, Aron Shaw, Allin and wife Rachel Shaw, all of Florida, John Lukasavitz Jr. of Flint and Teresa Lukasavitz of Deerfield, NH;
5 great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Darian, Christian, Caelan and Jessa;
several nieces and nephews.
