Charles A. Hardaker

Born: 5/11/1938
Died: 3/14/2019
Community: , MI

Charles A. Hardaker, know to many as the “The Pony Man” passed away peacefully on 03/14/19. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service or memorial as per his request. Charles was born to Lucille and Happy Hardaker in Clio Michigan in 1938. He worked as a Die Welder at General Motors retiring after 38 years to start a small business named, “Party Ponies”. Charlie was married to Belinda Esterline at the time of his passing. Charlie ran his pony business for over twenty years giving many children their first experience riding on horseback. He took great pride in the fact that he raised many of his ponies from foals on the farm and his ponies were trained for more than just birthday parties, festivals and special events. They were also used for therapeutic riding for disabled children and educational programs for local schools and daycares. He was active in community service throughout his life serving on the Clio School board, Lakeville Chamber of Commerce, Election Committees and Tax Review Boards. He loved watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events and rarely missed an opportunity to attend. If they were on a field, in an arena or at a gym he could almost always be found in the top of the grandstand wearing his customary cowboy hat cheering them on. Many people who knew Charlie probably didn't know that he was a real cowboy not just the,”The Pony Man” in a cowboy hat. He got his first horse before he was a teenager and never was without one the rest of his life. He rode the Michigan shore to shore trail ride while in his seventies, a ride that starts in Oscoda and ends in Empire 220 miles away. Charlie was a great man who will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Happy Trails. He is survived by many who will miss him dearly.
