MAGNUS, Jerome H. “Jerry” – of Birch Run, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his residence. He was 73 years of age.
Jerry was born August 15, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Frank and Helen (Billmeier) Magnus. He graduated from Birch Run High School. Jerry married Rose Barnes on October 26, 1963 in Saginaw. Mr. Magnus retired from General Motors with over 30 years of service. He attended Saginaw Valley Church of the Nazarene. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, yardwork, gardening and tending his flowers. He also enjoyed country music and attending country shows. Jerry loved traveling and had been to 48 of the 50 states. His favorite place to visit was Branson, Missouri. Above all, Jerry loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are: Wife, Rose Magnus of Birch Run; Daughter, Teresa (Timothy) Boll of Georgetown, KY; Son, Brian (Becky) Magnus of Frankenmuth; Grandchildren: Michael, Julianna, Brett and Kylie; Brothers: Edward (Marion) Magnus and Thomas (Carol) Magnus; Sisters: Shirley (Abe) Judd, Janette (Bill) Hart, Joyce (Phil) Power and Julie Magnus; Sister in law, RuthAnn Barnes; Several nieces, nephews other loving extended family and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by mother and father in law, Anna and Ronal Barnes; Brother in law, Rudy Barnes.
Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Rev. Randy Owens officiating. Burial in Birch Run Township Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 3-8PM and Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service. Contributions may be made to Saginaw Valley Church of the Nazarene.
