CHANEY, Stephen – Of Goodrich, age 61, died Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Hurley Medical Center.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 at Riverside Tabernacle, 429 NB Chavez Drive, Flint, Pastor Tom Mattiuzzo officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Riverside Children's Camp Fund.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Visitation will also be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
Stephen was born in Flint, Michigan on April 6, 1955, the son of Freddie and Dora (Reed)Chaney.
On May 31, 1975 he married Kathleen Hull in Flint.
He was an Associate Pastor of Riverside Tabernacle Church and was a pastor for 37 years with The Assemblies of God.
Pastor Steve spent his life compassionately caring for others, ministering to the lost and sharing the abounding love and Grace of Jesus Christ. He will be dearly missed by his earthly family, but they draw comfort in the confidence that he is now rejoicing in Heaven.
He was a member of National Association of Christian Counselors.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, reading, tennis, playing guitar and singing.
Surviving are wife, Kathleen;
children, April Lynn and husband David Cliber,
Sarah and husband Christopher Stanfill;
grandchildren, Alyssa, Aaron, Alexandra Lynn and Kaitlyn;
brothers, Frederick and wife Stephanie,
Larry Roth and Dan Roth.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rain Reed.
