STRNAD, Doris – Of Linden, age 85, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at her residence with the loving support of her family during her bout with Leukemia.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2pm Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Steve Anderson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society, Leukemia or Ovarian.
Doris was born in Flint on August 4, 1931, daughter of the late Harry and Nellie (Whyte) Schroeder and was a resident of Flint. She was stricken with Polio in 1945, then married her school sweetheart, Frank F. Strnad, on January 26, 1952. She worked at the voter registration for many years in Flint. Doris loved to read, do jigsaw puzzles and swing on swing sets. Doris was a wonderful and loving mother who will be greatly missed.
Surviving are children, Kathleen Childers and Teresa Ann (Michael) Ward, son-in-law, Norman Mansour;
seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom) Angelopoulos, Sheryl (Jack) Major, Nicholas (Chelsea) Mansour, Adam Childers, Amy Childers, Jeffrey (Erin) Ward and Sarah Ann Ward;
3 great-grandchildren;
brother, Alan (Sue) Schroeder;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Frank, on January 1, 2012, daughter, Marcelene Mansour in 2016 following her battle with ovarian cancer, sister, Joann Highfill, lung cancer from second hand smoke.
