DUNKEL, Harold Byron - Of Flint, age 81, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Visitation 10am Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Harold was born in Flint on February 4, 1935, the son of the late Otto and Dorthea Dunkel. Harold was a loving and kind husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. Harold was a life-long resident of Flint. He was a Tool and Die Maker when he retired from General Motors. Harold is an Army Veteran having enlisted in 1954; he was later stationed in Japan where he commanded a large artillery piece.
After retirement, he and Juldeen wintered in Frost Proof, Florida where he spent many days on the golf course. Harold loved the outdoors, gardening and working on his lawn. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. In his younger years, Harold spent many hours playing with kids and grandchildren in the swimming pool and grilling steaks outdoors.
A life well lived! Harold will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones.
Surviving are wife of 50 years, Juldeen Dunkel;
Step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his siblings, Loren Dunkel, and Eleanor Bilyea as well as many nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
