ROGERS, Doris Ione (Guernsey)- of Clio, age 81, went to be with the Lord and loved ones in heaven, April 19, 2013. Following a short illness she passed away peacefully at Hurley Medical Center in Flint with her family by her side. Doris was born to Alton Clark and Vesta (Dick) Guernsey on February 22, 1932 in Ionia, MI. She married Dewayne Rogers on February 17, 1951 in Bath, MI. He predeceased her on December 13, 1999.
Doris was employed as a secretary for Auto Owners Insurance, Lufkin Rule and Macabee Gardens until her retirement, but first and foremost she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved visiting her children and their families and taking trips with them along with taking a chance at the casino from time to time.
The jewels in her crown were her children who survive her: William (Linda) Rogers of Clio, Earl (Linda) Rogers of Saginaw, Cindy (Dale) Bowen of Grand Blanc, James (Kimberley) Rogers of Saginaw and Shari (Randy) Hawley of Clio; grandchildren, Dewayne (Sarah) Rogers, Corey (Sandy) Rogers, Ryan Rogers, Brent Rogers, Brooke Rogers, Brittany Rogers, Craig Hawley, Kevin (Danielle) Hawley, Kyle (Lauren) Bowen, Blane Bowen and Codey Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Dane (Marlin) Guernsey, Roy (Marilyn) Guernsey and Linda (David) Surinck. She was predeceased by her parents and 6 siblings: Donna Hodges, Stuart Guernsey, Loretta Harris, Garneth Feguer, Victor Guernsey and Kale Guernsey.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Friday, April, 26, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church. 520 Butler St. Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Burial will be in Thetford Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM. She will lie instate at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM.
