PIESKO, Raymond – Of Grand Blanc, age 85, died Thursday, December 4, 2014 at The Oaks at Woodfield.
Longtime Grand Blanc and Fenton resident Raymond “Ray” C. Piesko, a former executive of General Motors, died December 4, 2014, at age 85. He was born in Detroit and was the son of Josef and Elizabeth Piesko. As a child growing up he was an avid athlete, high school band member, excelled in academics and enjoyed working part-time jobs. He attended Wayne State University on a scholarship and was quarterback for the university’s football team. He graduated with honors.
As an adult, Ray was an active member of the Church of the Holy Family. He served as a member of the Men’s Club, financial manager of the church’s bingo operations and ordained to serve the Eucharist. Ray loved to golf, watch sports, play fantasy football, and most importantly, be with his family.
Ray is survived by three daughters: Sheila Piesko, Mesa, AZ, Susan Grossklaus, Grosse Ile, MI, and Lisa Piesko, Chicago, IL; siblings: Dan Piesko, Lillian Path and Larry Piesko; grandchildren: Ryan and Kara Grossklaus; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Roberta, son Paul, grandson Kevin and brothers Edwin and Eugene.
Raymond’s life was distinguished by his positive attitude, generosity, kindness, accomplishments and stamina when his health was physically challenged. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Church of the Holy Family on 11804 S. Saginaw St. in Grand Blanc, MI. They include visitation at 10 am, Mass at 11 am and a luncheon thereafter. While not necessary, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Holy Family, 11804 S.
