BRAYAN, Peter S. – Of Grand Blanc, age 90, died Monday, June 4, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2017 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church 2143 South Center Road, Burton, Father Matthew-Peter Butrie officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Endowment Fund.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
A Parastas service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Visitation 10 a.m. Friday at church until the time of the service.
Mr. Brayan was born in Flint on August 8, 1927 and was a lifelong area resident and entrepreneur.
He graduated from Flint Central High School and attended Baker University.
Peter owned seven eateries in the Flint area including the 'Honey Dew Grill & Elbow Room (1948-51); the Tops Sandwich Shop (51-55); The Varsity Drive-In (55-58); both Colonel's Drive-Ins (58-67) and Petko's Family Restaurant (67-75).
Mr. Brayan developed the first strip mall, the Yorkshire Plaza at Miller and Lennon Roads, becoming one of the first developers to build in the Miller Road corridor.
Mr. Brayan was a member of the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and was the original organizer of the Macedonian Golf Open which became a major fund raiser for the church. Peter was married to Mary Anne Andrews of Toronto, Canada for 69 years.
He is survived by his son, Richard;
daughter, Diane;
grandson, Michael (Kelly) Brickley;
2 great-grandsons, Joey and Jack Brickley and
brother Carl (Vera).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne, on November 10, 2017; daughter, Dr. Elaine Brayan Roberts; parents, brother, Boris and sister, Anna Popoff.
