Irma (Smithwick) Brooks of Flushing, age 95, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Fostrian Manor. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2012 at Rossell Funeral Home, Pastor Scott Southerland officiating. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday.
Irma was born in Manlia, Missouri on December 17, 1916, the daughter of John Riley and Rosa Ezora (Cagle) West. She married William A. Smithwick in Missouri on January 2, 1934. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1971. She married Guy Brooks in Flint on August 14, 1976. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2002. Irma had worked as a chef.
She is survived by: son, Glenn and wife Margaret Smithwick of Flushing; daughter-in-law, Wava Smithwick of Flint; seven grandchildren, Michelle Hellinger and Jeff Rak, Shari and husband Jeff Barr, Jerry and wife Muriel Smithwick, Jim and wife Kathy Smithwick, Jeff and wife Linda Smithwick, Janet and husband Mike Helmer, John and wife Marsha Smithwick; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, J.W. Smithwick, and several sisters and brothers. |
