WALTER, Ethel – of Flint, age 79, passed away January 4, 2016 at her residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, January 8, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2500 N. Franklin Ave., Flint; Rev. Fr. Zachary Maybee celebrant. Cremation will follow the mass. Visitation will be 12-3 and 5-8 PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and one hour prior to the mass on Friday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
Ethel was born in Pinconning, MI on March 1, 1936, daughter of the late Herman and Ethel Rose (Campau) Champine. She married Duane Walter on December 11, 1954 at St. Anne’s Church in Linwood and he preceded her in death on March 31, 2014. Ethel was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church since 1958. She enjoyed playing cards, spending time with family, being up north and going to the casino. Ethel had a strong faith and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She treated everyone like her family and loved to cook. Ethel’s life work was raising her family and she took great pride in doing so.
Ethel is survived by her children, Denese, Duane II, Tom (Sue), Daren (Jennifer), Loyd (Terri), Brian (Jenn), Dawn (Noel); 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Howard, June, Maxene; brother-in-law, John (Linda) Walter; sister-in-law, Yvonne Walter; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives. She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers; mother and father-in-law, Loyd A. Walter and Lucy F. DeShaw Walter.
