DUNAWAY, Jesse E. – of Lapeer, MI, age 69, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at his home. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Interment will take place following the service at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11 AM, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Jesse’s honor.
Jesse was born in Flint, Michigan on January 24, 1956, son of the late Herschel Eugene Dunaway and Darlene (Riley) Norris. He married the love of his life, Teresa Bowman, on May 1, 1975, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a dedicated ironworker who built a successful career with Barton Malow Construction before retiring in 2009 as the General Manager of the Resteel Division after 23 years of service. Jesse was a man of many passions. He found peace in fishing, loved fantasy football, and had unwavering loyalty as a devoted Detroit Lions fan. He enjoyed the great outdoors, whether it was camping with family or relaxing on peaceful pontoon boat rides. A lifelong collector, he shared a love for coins and baseball cards. More than anything, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren. Jesse’s warmth, wisdom, and love for life will be remembered by all who knew him.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Teresa; children: Brian (Kristin) Dunaway and Christopher Dunaway; grandchildren: Austin, Hunter, and Aiden; his baby dog, Molly; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings: Joe Dunaway and Pam (the late Joe) DeMary; step-father, John Norris.
