Mattison, Wallace “Wally” age 81, of Flushing, died Monday, January 22, 2018. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Rossell Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Mary Lloyd will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A memorial service under the auspices of Swartz Creek Masonic Lodge #556 will be 7 p.m. Friday followed by a memorial service by the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Wallace was born in Flint, Michigan on October 25, 1936, the son of Chester and Frieda (Buchanan) Mattison. He married the love of his life, Linda Hoffman on August 15, 1959, in Plymouth, Michigan. In his younger years, along with working at General Motors for 37 years, he was quite the entrepreneur, having owned Mattison Vending, Mattison Gas and Oil, and Wally Gators Restaurant. He was a life member of Swartz Creek Masonic Lodge #556, Morningstar and Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple where he was a 32nd Degree Shriner. Wally’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda; son, Brett and wife Yvonne Mattison; grandchildren, Courtney (Ryan) Beardslee, Ryan (Rhiannon) Timlick, Chadd Mattison, Cole (Aly) Mattison; six and a half great-grandchildren; sisters, Rita VanBuskirk, June Rice, Dolores (Ron) Reynolds; many nieces and nephews whom he adored; and dear friends, Bob and Nancy Myers. He was preceded in death by his son, Bradley Mattison; two brothers and a sister.
