DAUGHERTY, Robert B. – of Davison, age 79, passed into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by his loving family on May 8, 2015 from complications of Parkinson ’s disease at Medilodge of Grand Blanc. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Judson Baptist Church, 2462 S. Genesee Rd., Burton; Pastor Greg Rowan officiating. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and 12-1 PM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Judson Baptist Memorial Fund.
Robert was born in Flint, MI on May 2, 1936, son of the late Bethel and Eleanor (Shampine) Daugherty. He married Joan Caryl on November 26, 1954. Robert graduated from Davison High School in 1954. He was an electrician at the GM V8 Engine Plant and retired in 1996 after 42 years of service. Robert was a charter member of Judson Baptist Church where he was an active member and served as deacon and was chairman of the Deacon Board for many years. He was a Sunday school teacher and chairman of Evangelism Explosion. Robert was an avid golfer, enjoyed woodworking and watching football. He was a big MSU fan. Robert was a wonderful, loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. He loved his Lord and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by the love of his life of 60 years, Joan; children, Mark (Carol) of Waterford, Michael (Jill) of Flint, Michelle (Jon) Alley of Angola, IN; grandchildren, Jason Daugherty, Misty (Jared) Wilson, David (Jaclyn) Daugherty, Caleb (Emily) Alley, Hannah (Brock) Artfitch; 5 great-grandchildren, Christian, Jack, Luke, Gavin and Kaylyn; brothers, Richard, Terry (Pat) of Florida; sister, Linda Breece of Clio. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses, aides and staff at Medilodge of Grand Blanc and Great Lakes Hospice.
