Norman K. Strachan, 74 of Morrice, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 2, 2017. Norman was born in St. Johns, MI on July 12, 1943, the son of Howard & Jean (Kirtland) Strachan. He graduated from Ionia High School in 1961. On October 2, 1965 he married Linda Hankinson and would have celebrated 52 years together this year. Norman retired from Fisher Body-General Motors in Grand Blanc and was Past Worshipful Master at the Perry Masonic Lodge 350 and a member of the Shriners, a member of the Morrice United Methodist Church, past president of the Morrice Senior Center, served on the Perry Morrice Shaftsburg Ambulance for 12 years, past member of the HOST program in Morrice, enjoyed hunting at Tom's camp with Verlyn and Doc Elsesser.
Norman is survived by his wife, Linda, children; Mary Strachan of Morrice and Robert (Belinda) Strachan of Sperry, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Emma & Mason Strachan and Teilia (Andy) Betz, sister Sandra (Gary) Lummen of Grand Rapids, brother John (Martha) Strachan of Denver, CO, sister Judy Magnay of Toronto, Canada, special friends Bob Beach and Larry Slocum. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents Howard & Jean Strachan. Norm would not want us to forget the staff at the Perry Taco Bell and Morrice Mugg & Bopps shop and their kindness over these last years.
Funeral services will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Perry on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-8 PM and on Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 PM with a Masonic service to be held at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Perry. Memorials are suggested to Owosso Memorial Hospice, Morrice United Methodist Church or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
