JAROU, Joseph James – Of Flushing, age 36, died Monday, June 22, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center.
Private visitation and service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home.
Burial at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Joseph was born in Flint, Michigan on February 25, 1984, the son of James Jarou and Sharon Bates.
He was a member of the YMCA for many years.
He enjoyed playing pickle ball, hockey, ping pong and billiards.
He had a passion for the outdoors, including hunting and fishing.
Joseph liked to play cards and enjoyed a good poker game.
He was also an aspiring rapper.
Above all else he loved being with his family.
Surviving are father, James;
mother Sharon (Robert) Bates;
sisters, MaryAnn (Jeff) Thomas and
Jessica Jarou;
step-sister, Lauren Bates;
grandfather, Edward Jarou;
aunts, Jamelee (Bill) Ryckman and Tracey (Kevin) Mulcahy;
uncles, John Jarou, Leroy Elizalde and Robert Elizalde;
several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Leroy Elizalde; grandmother, Margaret Jarou; uncle, Jonathan Jarou; aunt, Laura Withers and cousin, Gina Elizalde.
