Passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Tendercare of Frankenmuth; age 76 years. Barbara Jean Clontz was born on November 20, 1937 in Mt. Morris, MI to the late Howard M. and Lecy “Lee” Clontz. She graduated from Mt. Morris High school in 1955. Barbara married Raymond C. Borchard on February 14, 1982 in Frankenmuth, he preceded her in death on December 4, 1999. Barb worked in the insurance field for 28 years. She was a member of the Insurance Women of Genesee County. She moved to Bay City and was an active member of the Insurance Women of the Tri Cities. She was also a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Bay County and served as its’ first woman president 1981- 1982. She was a charter member of the GENBWA Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association of Flint. Barb was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Frankenmuth and served as president of its' Ladies Aid.
Barbara is survived by; a sister, Virginia (Leon) Pifer of Clio, MI; a brother, John (Juanita) Clontz of Mt. Morris, MI; many nieces and nephews, and special friends.
She was preceded in death by; a son, Jeffrey Quade; sisters, H. Marie King and E. Betty Apperley; brothers, Buck, Wayne, and Robert Clontz.
Funeral and Committal services will take place Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1200 E. Genesee, Frankenmuth, MI. Rev. Jeff Luplow will officiate. Burial will take place in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Barb’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Raymond C. Borchard Memorial Fund, c/o St. John’s Lutheran Church, or American Cancer Society.
