BROWN, SAMUEL CLEON – Of Flint, age 86, died Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 6-8pm Tuesday, September 3, 2024 and 10am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Samuel was born in Pall Mall, Tennessee on June 6, 1938, the son of the late Roy D. and Sylvia Brown. On September 1, 1967 he married Ilene Johnson. He was employed with General Motors for 37 years, retiring in 1994. Mr. Brown was an accomplished Gospel singer and enjoyed golfing and fishing in Canada. He was an active member of New Road Baptist Church. Samuel was active in area high school sports as a 20-year referee for volleyball and football as well as an umpire for baseball. He played volleyball and city class B softball and on church leagues as well. Samuel also coached volleyball at Ainsworth High School.
Surviving are sons, Mark (Charlene)and Brad (Sarah);
Granddaughters, Lily and Emily and grandson, Brady.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ilene, on December 24, 2019, parents, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
