Philip Ross Anibal, age 89 of Palm Harbor, Florida and formerly of Fenton, Michigan passed away in his home on Monday, July 8, 2024. Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, July 19, 2024 at Linden Free Methodist Church, 13274 Linden Rd., Linden, MI 48451. Family will receive visitors at the church Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Pastor Randy Bennett officiating. Burial in Tyrone Memory Gardens. There will be a family dinner at the church immediately following the interment. Phil was born on May 29, 1935, in Genesee County to the late Vern and Pearl Anibal. Growing up on the family farm helped develop his passion for horticulture. He began his education in a one room schoolhouse and graduated from Linden High School in 1953. After high school he attended Michigan State University where he graduated in 1957. On June 21st, 1958, Phil married Edna Combs in Hartland, Michigan. Together they raised 5 children.
Phil was a farmer and learned excellent welding skills while working at General Motors. He helped fell trees and started his own real estate and construction company, building affordable homes but adding his own flare to make them unique. He was a faithful member of the Linden Free Methodist Church where he was instrumental in helping the church purchase the land and oversee the construction of the present Linden Free Methodist Church facility and its pavilion. Later in life he attended the Clearwater First Nazarene Church after moving to Florida.
He was an active member of the Fenton Kiwanis, past leader of the Flint Board of Realtors and member of The Gideons International. Phil enthusiastically followed Michigan State University sports teams. He enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, R.V. camping, gardening, board games, and ice cream.
Phil will be missed by his wife of 66 years, Edna Anibal; 5 children: Gail (Bob) Elder, Doug (Jan-deceased) Anibal, Karen (Mark) Fernelius, Dan (Leah) Anibal, and Sandy (Aric) Schneider; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and his brother Jim (Merrily) Anibal.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.
