COLE, CLARA EMILY of Flushing, Michigan, age 102, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Flushing Presbyterian Church, 5010 North McKinley Road, Flushing, Pastor Teresa Peterson officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Flushing Presbyterian Church.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 12 Noon Thursday at church until the time of the service.
Clara was born March 19, 1916, in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was the daughter of Olaf Johanson and Annette Berntine (Elleraas) Myhr. She married Max T. Cole on June 1, 1939. They came to the United States on October 13, 1944 and she became a naturalized citizen on May 23, 1957.
Clara worked in retail sales at Maas Brothers in Flint, for 29 years. She took pride in helping her customers put together an outfit that fit well and looked great. Clara was dedicated to her family. She was an excellent cook and baker. She loved music and dancing and also enjoyed reading and shopping.
She attended Flushing Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Eagles and Forresters.
Surviving are daughters, Maxine and husband Bart Allen of Flint, Kaye Kaufherr of Flushing;
6 grandchildren, Marcus (Jennifer) Kaufherr, Ryan Kaufherr (Laura Cochran), Lisa and husband David Barzycki, Bradley Catlin (Lori Lee), Dawn Prendes and husband J.R. and Diane and husband Chuck Abbonizio;
10 great-grandchildren;
1 great-great-grandson;
many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max, 7 brothers; 4 sisters.
