DOWDALL, Ida E. “Betty” – of Flint, age 91, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at her son’s residence surrounded by her family. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 PM on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Rd., Flint, Rev. Fr. George Puthenpeedika celebrant. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Visitation will be on Saturday and Sunday from 12-8 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. On Monday, visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at church. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Genesys Hospice.
Betty was born in Flint, MI on August 13, 1922, daughter of the late Clayton and Mary (Jones) Quinn. She married Patrick Dowdall, Sr. on May 23, 1942 and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2008 after 65 years of marriage. Betty was a charter member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She also worked on the election board for Genesee Township for 43 years. Betty brought joy to everyone she met.
Betty is survived by children, Pat (Sue) Dowdall, Moureen (Ralph) Bishoff, Tim Dowdall, Tom Dowdall, Terry Dowdall, Julie (Joel) Fournier, Kerrie (Ralph) Layman, Kellie (Thad) Shegos; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
