CURRY, Jo Etta - Of Flint, MI, age 87, died Saturday, September 3, 2016 At Melody Gardens.
Funeral service will be held 11am Friday September 9, 2016 at the South Flint Tabernacle, 3450 South Saginaw, Burton, MI.
Pastor Robert Henson and Reverend Jason McGhee officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Visitation 2-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI. Visitation at church 10am Friday until the time of the service.
Jo Etta was born in Truman, Arkansas on August 10, 1929, the daughter of the late Gussie and Dona (Stephen) Shands. She moved to Flint, MI, from Truman Arkansas in 1952. She married Lester Curry on July 3, 1947 in Truman, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2016. Mrs. Curry had been a member of the South Flint Tabernacle Church since 1952. Jo Etta retired from AC Spark Plug in 1969.
Surviving are four sons, David of Mundy Township, Sam and wife Diane of Flint, Michael of Grand Rapids, and Randal and wife Jill of Mundy Township;
11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon, son-in-law, Rev. Anthony Bailey, daughter-in-law, Linda Curry and 2 sisters, Bera Birmingham and Betty Whitt.
