CRAWFORD, Ruth – Of Flint, age 86, died Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 6pm Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the
Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Dr. Max Hayden officiating.
Visitation 12 Noon Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Ruth was born in Alma, Michigan on August 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Everett and Margaret (LaBonnville) Tallman. Ruth married Donald Crawford in June of 1955 in West Branch and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1995. Ruth retired from General Motors AC Spark Plug after 25 years. She was a member of the VFW Local #3087 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She also belonged to American Business Women in Flint. Ruth enjoyed long boat rides, watching her grandchildren play volleyball and softball, crochet, china painting, reading, crossword puzzles and birdwatching.
Surviving are daughters, Donna (Robert) Bissett of Otisville, Margaret (John) Mickels of Flint;
son, Harold (Oksana) Crawford of Davison;
8 grandchildren,
Brianna (Chris) Butzin, Lindsey (Greg) Higley, Donald Crawford, Chelsey (Matt) Chriswell, Bryan (Chris) Wheeler, Kelly (Eddy) Holmes, Michele (Mike) Goold, Carrie Pyne;
11 great-grandchildren;
3 great-great-grandchildren;
sisters Lois (Roy) Mercier and Darlene (Ray) Schlosser;
brother-in-law, Ray (Inez) Crawford;
many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her son William and brother Robert.
