BEASINGER, Leon James – of Flint, MI, age 81, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at Mission Point of Holly. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 PM Friday, October 2, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. John M. Machiorlatti celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-12 PM Friday, October 2, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan or PAWS Animal Rescue, in Leon’s memory.
Leon was born in Flint, MI on November 2, 1938, son of the late Lawrence and Gretchen (Smith) Beasinger. Leon proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964. He married Cheryl Church on September 16, 1989. Leon retired from AC Spark Plug in 1995 after more than 20 years of service. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed electronics, building circuit boards and playing poker.
Leon is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cheryl Beasinger; 3 children, Sean Beasinger, Brian (Tracy) Church and Lisa Church; 2 grandchildren, Brandon (Rebecca) Church and Krystal Church; great-grandson, Lincoln Church; 3 siblings, Lawrence (Helen) Beasinger, Robert (Pam) Beasinger and Karen (Wayne) Allis; sister-in-law, Joan Beasinger; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Gretchen Beasinger and his brother, Gary Beasinger.
