Passed away suddenly on October 3rd, 2020.
She was born Avis Mary Flynn on July 17, 1947 to Kenneth and Thelma Flynn of Mt. Morris, Michigan.
She was the youngest of 7 children.
She graduated at the top of her class from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1965. She went on to study at University of Michigan Flint, where she met the love of her life, Arthur Makuch II. They married on January 20, 1968 and were inseparable from then on. So much so that they worked side by side for 44 years at Makuch’s Red Rooster, the family business co-owned with brother-in-law Ken Makuch and his wife Michole.
Avis loved to vacation in the Caribbean, scuba dive, golf, play bridge, and read. She could always be found in her favorite chair reading.
She was loved by all.
She left behind her husband of 52 years, Arthur Makuch; daughter Nikki Howell and husband Dave; son Matt Makuch and wife Amy; grandchildren Kerstin Crane and fiancée Nate Smith, Tyler Keen and fiancée Bethany Freeman, Aaron Howell and fiancée Jessalyn Wigley, Abigail, Daniel, Rebekah & William Howell, Matthew & Isabella Makuch; great-granddaughter, Arya Smith; sister, Kathleen LeMieux and husband Robert, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers Pat, Bob and Russ Flynn; sisters Theresa Yonan and Joan Dressel; granddaughter Elizabeth Howell.
A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2021. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Kidney Fund (www.kidneyfund.org/donate) or the American Diabetes Foundation (www.diabetes.org/donate) .
