LINK, DONALD PAUL, age 90, died Monday, February 6, 2017 at Genesys Hospital, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, MI. The Rev. Ann Norton officiating. Interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:00 P.M. followed by a Shriners Walk through following. Don was born June 19, 1926 in Flint, MI to parents Adam and Myrtle (Cramer) Link. He was a Flint resident his entire life. On June 10, 1944, after graduating from Flint Northern High School, Don enlisted in the US Navy. He was honorably discharged on June 1, 1946. Don married Ruth E. Rubel on February 14, 1948 in Flint, MI. Ruth preceded him in death on October 4, 2011. Don worked for Hamady Brothers for 46 years, retiring in 1989. Following a brief retirement, he returned to work part-time employment for numerous food brokers. Don continued his life time involvement in the grocery industry working until age 87. Don was a life member of Genesee Lodge No. 174, Free & Accepted Masons, Washington Chapter No. 15, Royal Arch Masons, Genesee Commandery No. 15, Knights Templar, Elf Khurafeh Temple Shrine, and Saginaw Court No, 74, Royal Order of Jesters. In addition to membership in these Masonic organizations, Don also was a member Bay City Consistory. Scottish Rite Masons, and a Past President of the Military Patrol, Elf Khurafeh Shrine, a Life-Member of Grand Blanc Chapter No,. 507 and a Past Patron of El Star Chapter No. 513, Order of the Easter Star. Don passed just nine days shy of having given 50 years of service to Job’s Daughters International. He was a Past Associate Bethel Guardian of Bethels No. 54 Flint, 30 Grand Blanc, and 60 Montrose. In 1985-86, he served as Associate Grand Guardian of Michigan. He continued to serve the Grand Guardian Council of Michigan on various committees until the time of his death. He is survived by his daughters Jeannie Link-Johnson (Ronald Johnson) and Debbie Link, both of Burton; granddaughters Sue Gonzalez of Virginia Beach and Amy (Paul) Clolinger of Davison; great-grandchildren Nicholas and Jacob Gonzalez of VA and Cameron Clolinger of Davison; sister Madeline Wilkinson of Glennie, MI and brother Dennis (Bobbie) Link of Casco, MI; sister-in-laws Carol (Rick) Stanley of Colorado Springs, CO; Kay Rubel of Flint, many nieces and nephews and special extended family members Peter and Wendy Scholz. In continuing his legacy of service to youth, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple Hospital Drivers Unit or the scholarship fund of the Job’s Daughters Foundation of Michigan. The family wishes to acknowledge the care and support they received from the staff of Genesys Hospital and Reverence Hospice Care as well as Drs. Mark Neumann, Mark Rittenger, Greg Streff, Elizabeth Chapton-Rivard, Hameem Changezi, Manjit Grewal, Stephanie Whisiker-Lewis, Abi Waqas, Genevieve Sierminski, Ali Mohammed, Stuart Weiner, Matt Weiss and Devinderjit Bhangu.
