Maxine Adelaide (Grotto) Gleason, long time resident of Flushing, MI, passed away peacefully at Pleasant View Healthcare Facility on Tuesday, May 16th, 2017, with family present.
Born November 25, 1929, to Rose (Michard) and Joseph Grotto in Davison, MI, Maxine was raised with her sisters, Elaine and Theresa, and her brother Lowell and half-brother, Edward McIntyre. After high school she met the love of her life, Ernest J. “Kelly” Gleason, and they were married November 29, 1952.
Maxine was a devout Catholic. She loved adventure and enjoyed camping, sailing, skiing, traveling, gardening, music, children, friendships, animals, and laughter. Most of all she loved, and dedicated her life to, her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ernest “Kelly” Gleason, along with her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her children, James D. (Kathleen) Gleason, JD, of Henniker, NH; John J (Karen) Gleason, former Senator, of Flushing, MI; Timothy A. (Patricia) Gleason, DO, of Bozeman, MT; Rita (Matthew) Blanchard of Hopkinton, NH; Jennifer Gleason of Flushing, MI; sisters, Elaine Jared and Theresa Kennedy, both of Davison, MI; 15 beloved grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison will take place from 4-6 PM Sunday, May 21, 2017. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM Sunday. Mass will be held at 11 AM Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Robert C. Bacik celebrant. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Monday at the church. Burial of cremated remains will be 11 AM Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
