ROSE, Glendon S. “Glen” – Of Flint Township, age 96, died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Rick Schmidt officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park with a military graveside service under the auspices of the Marine Corps League Flint Detachment #155 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Home & Hospice Advantage.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Glen was born in Flint, Michigan on March 23, 1917, the son of Wallace and Selma Rose.
He served in the Army during World War II, in the 815 ING.AVN. BN in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
On February 13, 1947 he married Shirley Brown.
He loved to garden and decorate for Christmas and family. He loved to help others and hunting.
His love for hunting was enjoyed and picked up by family.
Mr. Rose was employed by GM for 25 years in Skilled Trades Tool & Die. He also owned Glen Rose Variety Store in Flint.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley M. Rose and they had been married 65 years;
children, Gary S. Rose and Wallace E. (Brenda) Rose;
three grandchildren, Natalie (Jonathan) Rose, Michael (Shevelle) Davis and Kyle (Emily) Davis;
He was preceded in death by parents, Wallace and Selma.
