SWANTON, Donald D. Jr. – of Evart, formerly Clio, age 68, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11AM Monday, January 18, 2016 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial in Flint Memorial Park with military honors. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-8PM and Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Don was born August 7, 1947 in Flint, Michigan to the late Donald D. Sr. and Pauline (Nelson) Swanton. Mr. Swanton is a U.S Air Force Vietnam Veteran. He retired from Buick in 1996 with 30 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local # 599. Don was a member of the Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post #1452 and Clio Eagles Aerie #3609. He enjoyed hunting.
Surviving are: Son, Ryan (Arminda) Swanton of South Carolina; Daughter, Rachel Swanton of Clio; 3 grandchildren: Racquel, Devan and Raine Cottrell of Clio; Former wife, Katie Swanton of Clio; Special friend, Marie Shook of Barryton; Brother, DuWayne Swanton of Florida; Sisters: Darlene (William) Gardner of Millington and Dottie Perkins of Clio.
