FARAH, Lotof – Of Burton, age 87, died Monday, May 14, 2012 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at St. George Orthodox Church 5191 Lennon Road, Flint, Father Joseph Abud officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to St. George Orthodox Church or their Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Trisagion Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Farah will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
Mr. Farah was born in Flint, Michigan on June 29, 1924, the son of Ameen and Feroze Farah. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Pay and Supply Officer. On February 3, 1950 he married Catherine McTaggart in Flint. He was a member of St. George Orthodox Church. He enjoyed all sports, especially golfing, fishing and bowling. He also enjoyed playing Bridge, going to the casino and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Farah owned and operated Metro Furniture for 25 years. Surviving are children, Christine and husband Robert Brooks of Worthington, Ohio, John and wife Theresa Farah of Davison, Gregory and wife Carri Farah of Grand Blanc, Marilyn and husband Ronald Zerka of Flint; grandchildren, Anthony and wife Anna Brooks,
Daniel and wife Mirka Brooks, Kari, Jeff and Laura Farah, Lindsey and Staci Farah and Stephanie Zerka; two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Jessica Zerka; brother, Roy and wife Pauline Farah of Grand Blanc; sister-in-law, Irene Farah of Flint; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine. The family would like to thank the staff at Melody Brookwood and Home & Hospice Advantage for their care.
