Helen K. Hundley
Age 83 of Corunna, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at McLaren Hospital surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 1pm Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Nelson-House Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8pm and Friday from 9am until 8pm with family present 12 to 8pm and Saturday from 11am until the time of service.
Helen was born March 14, 1931 in Prenter, West Virginia, the daughter of Louis and Irene (Loveyi) Kovacs.
She attended Concord College in Athens, WV for teaching and furthered her education at Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan.
Helen was a member of Lennon Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed camping, being outdoors and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. She was not only dedicated to teaching and nurturing her own family, she also opened her heart and home to several foster children through the years.
She married Clyde E. Hundley on January 16, 1950 in West Virginia.
She began her teaching career in the Flint Schools and worked the majority of her 35 years at Swartz Creek Schools retiring in 1995 where she had worked as a teacher and guidance counselor.
She is survived by her husband Clyde; children Bill (Betty) Hundley, Cyndy (Keith) Vanderkarr, Rick (Kathy) Hundley, Jacci (Tom) Doyle and Scott (Julie) Hundley; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother Louis (Penny) Kovacs; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Helen was predeceased by her son Garey Hundley, grandsons Garey Hundley Jr and Chad Hundley, great-granddaughter Kaylee Ann, her parents and an infant sister.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the 10th and 11th floor nursing staff at McLaren Hospital; especially Art Gowdy.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Carriage Town Ministries of Flint or the Salvation Army.
