PHILLIPS, Harold Oscar – of Montrose, age 93, died Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Pastor Bob Leming officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 2-8 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Charity of Choice.
Harold was born November 16, 1924 in Neponset, Illinois to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Felton) Phillips. He grew up in the Kewanee, Illinois area and then moved to Montrose area where he has resided for the past 53 years. Harold served in the Civil Service with the Military Police in Pearl Harbor. On August 15, 1946 he married Norma Ramsey and she preceded him in death on January 17, 2012. Prior to his retirement in 1981, Harold worked as a Set-Up Man at GM at the Buick Plant 10 for 35 years. He was a very proud UAW Local 599 member. Harold enjoyed working in the yard, woodworking, gardening, and tinkering with his John Deere tractors. He also built his own home with the help of his family.
Surviving are: Children, Brenda (Jim) Brown, Susan (Bart) Smethwick; Grandchildren, Amy Smethwick, Jamie( Frank) Chrysler, Adam (Merisa) Brown, Shane Smethwick; Great Grandchildren, Cruz Ramin, Jules Ramin, Austin Rose Chrysler, Cole Chrysler, Jack Brown, Luke Brown, Ian Chrysler.
