Charles was born in Flint, MI on August 4, 1933, son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Emery) Crawford. He was a graduate of Kearsley High School Class of 1951. On May 29, 1954, he embarked on a journey of love with Joanne Scott, a partnership that endured until her passing on December 1, 2010. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1957. A dedicated employee, Charles devoted four decades of his life to AC Spark Plug, retiring in 1989 with a legacy of hard work and dedication. Beyond his professional endeavors, he found joy in a myriad of passions. Whether it was the greens of a golf course, the tranquility of a fishing spot, the thrill of the hunt, or the exhilaration of snowmobiling, Charles embraced life's adventures with gusto. Music flowed through his veins, as he skillfully played the guitar and drums. His affinity for horses spoke to a gentle spirit, while his involvement with the Flint Elks Lodge #222, Flint Elks Men’s Glee Club, and long-time association with the East Flint Lions Club underscored his commitment to community and camaraderie. Throughout his journey, Charles found solace and strength in his faith, as a devoted member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.
His life was enriched by the love and support of countless individuals, among them his caregiver, Kathy Olsick, his longtime housekeeper, Jackie Fulton, and the compassionate nurses and staff of Regency at Grand Blanc. Their unwavering care and kindness were a source of comfort. In honoring Charles's memory, let us not only celebrate his remarkable life but also strive to embody the same warmth, generosity, and passion for life that defined his essence. May his spirit live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Charles is survived by 2 children, Scott (Judi) Crawford and Sue (Lloyd) Gilliam; 2 grandchildren, Steven (Tamara) Crawford and Kevin Crawford; 3 great-grandchildren, SJ, Dorian and Celeste; sister-in-law, Betty (Grant) Bourn; best neighbors, Mark (Joy) Lince; many other loving family members and good friends.
