William Graham “Bill” Groves, 84 years of age, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away on May 16. 2018.
The visitation will be held at 9:00 am July 21, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Church located at 1227 East Bristol Rd., Burton, Michigan. The funeral service will follow immediately after at 10:00am.
Bill was born in Burton Michigan on December 13, 1933. He graduated from Burton High School and continued on to receive a degree in Manufacturing Production and Processes from General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. He worked for General Motors Corporation for over 40 years.
Bill was married to Joyce Louise Roberts on June 23, 1956 and they stayed married for 62 years.
Together they were enthusiastic boaters and loved life on the lake. During the spring and summer months they raised their family on Case’s Island, Lake Fenton, Fenton, Michigan. Bill and his family enjoyed all sports and recreation associated with lake life including sailing, skiing, fishing, and boating in the summer and ice-skating, ice-boating and snowmobiling during the winter. Bill had a deep appreciation for classic wooden boats that he also shared with his family. He was a recreational sport pilot in his younger years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce Groves. Also surviving are: daughter Kim Hamilton and spouse Terry, son Greg Groves, son-in -law Randy Johnson, daughter Teresa Elder and spouse Joe, son Scott Groves and spouse Shannon, daughter Marie Sivec and spouse Klaus, daughter Judith Groves, and son Mark Groves and spouse Mary. He is also survived by four sisters: Rovena Nitz, Alberta Oxford, Linda Fullerton and Jane Van Y. Bill and Joyce have nine grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Graham and Dorothy Groves, siblings Larry Groves, Juanita Chech, and his daughter Kelly Johnson.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Catholic Community Hospice of Overland Park, Kansas located at 9740 West 87th Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66212.
