Evelyn Christine Stafford, age 86, of Flushing, died Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at McLaren Hospital in Flint. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of sixty-six years, Junior Stafford; her eleven children: Sharon (Danny) Jones, Diane (Dan) Borgerding, Ronnie (Neita) Stafford, Michael (Bridget) Stafford, Mark (Jackie) Stafford, David (Wanda) Stafford, Beverly (Chris) Irrer, Yvonne (Joe) Pender, Kim (Larry) Bonham, Kevin (Jodi) Stafford, and Chris Stafford; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her sisters: Reba Pruitt and Shirley Witt.
Evelyn was born on October 18, 1933, in Narrows, Virginia; the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Adaley and Bertha (Kelley) Robinson. Evelyn and Junior Stafford were married on May 9, 1954, in Narrows, Virginia, and moved to Michigan in 1958. Throughout her life, Evelyn was a homemaker, taking care of her twelve children. In her free time, she enjoyed watching sports; especially the Detroit Tigers, taking trips back to visit family in Virginia, and cooking. However, most of all, she loved spending time with her family; especially her many grandchildren! Evelyn was known for her selfless personality, and her love for cooking; if she was around, no one went hungry. She will be greatly missed by many.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Adaley and Bertha; her daughter, Sandy Jacot; her granddaughter, Nicole Smith; her grandson, Tyler Pender; her five brothers; and her sister.
A funeral service will take place at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. Evelyn’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive visitors on Saturday, September 5, 2020, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Sunday from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
