PRAY, Howard E. “Pete” – of East Tawas, age 87, passed away October 7, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital – Saginaw. An Outdoor Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon Saturday, October 10, 2020 at St. Dunstan’s, 1523 N. Oak Rd., Davison, MI 48423; The Rev. Sue Colavincenzo officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10:30 AM until the time of service at church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries. In accordance with State Mandated Guidelines, masks are required, and social distancing must be observed.
Pete was born in Flint, MI on July 9, 1933, son of Cecil and Bernice (Slaght) Pray. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Airforce. Serving in the Korean War. Pete married Janette Glosch on October 19, 1951 and she preceded him in death on December 25, 1997. He married Joyce P. Figgins on December 14, 2002. Pete was a member of Community of Christ in Mikado, MI. He retired from GM in Grand Blanc and was a volunteer Fireman for many years with Genesee Township. He was awarded the Genesee County Firefighter of the year in 1984. Pete served on the Board of Directors for Braidwood Manor and Taecken’s Terrace.
Pete is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Howard Jr. (Marge) Pray, Pamela Udell; Jodie (Paul) Gillespie and Greg (Julie) Pray; stepchildren, Vicki (Eric) Anderson and Theresa (Jeff) Greer. many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Sally) Pray and Chuck (Sharon) Pray; sister, Joyce Bomorra. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice in 1967; father, Cecil in June of 1997 and brother-in-law, Thane Earns in May of 1997, sister Marge in Dec. of 2019 and brother Cecil Jr in Sept. of 2013.
